Board Blog

Last week was a wonderful week for Apollo. We had a board meeting at my place and that meant I also had to cook. Claudia and cooking is not the best combination, so that resulted in some stressful moments and food that fell apart. Wednesday was our committee drink, to thank everyone for their efforts. After that we all went to the Woeste Hoeve and celebrated the first anniversary of our study association. Other study association boards and a lot of Apollo members were present. As a result, we had an unforgettable evening (if we can remember everything of course). Thank you all for that.

Claudia

Last week there were a lot of nice activities organised by our committees. I was afraid it was going to rain, but luckily the rain came during the night and not during the activities. On Wednesday we did bubble football. I do not like playing football that much, so I decided to just watch…. But the others had so much fun, I had to join in! There are already some nice photo’s on our Facebook page, so check them out! On Thursday the annual FoodCie festival took place. There were so many food trucks, that is was difficult to decide what to eat. We enjoyed the food, the weather and the company. It was a lovely festival! Again, you can find photo’s of the festival on the Facebook page of the festival.

I hope you have a great week!

Dear members,

Last week was a quiet week due to the long weekend! I stayed at my hometown for a couple of days and enjoyed the nice weather. No Apollo during these days, which is quite relaxing during the busy weeks of period six.

Last Wednesday, Marieke and I had a meeting with the study advisors of BGM & BCL and the programme director. We have this meeting each period and during this meeting we discuss several things that both relate to Apollo as the programme of our study. The study advisors and programme director are very involved and are always willing to help. For example, last week we discussed the AID-study day, whose organization already started! Would you like to help during this day? Please send an email to Apollo.aid@wur.nl

Have a nice week!

Love,

Milou

Time flies! The end of the year is already near and the last activities are coming. Last week was not very busy for Apollo, so I do not have a lot to tell… The week before this week, I enjoyed the sun on a terrace in Leiden with a friend. That was great, so let’s hope we’ll finally get some more sun! Last week there was a nice constitution drink of CODON and upcoming week I hope to see you all at the bubble football and the FoodCie festival 🙂

Ciska

It’s already the sixth period of the academic year. For me, two difficult courses and the last months of being part of the Apollo board are coming up. In my mind, I’m actually already in Norway, where I’ll be studying for one semester from August on. However, that’s no reason not to enjoy this last period in Wageningen and fully go for it, because there will still be a lot of fun Apollo activities! For example bubble football, a drink for all committee members and of course the party in honour of the first anniversy of Apollo! I hope to see you all there 😊

Dorien

Last week was a quiet week for Apollo. Fortunately we had come up with something nice ourselves: a date dinner with the board. It was definitely a success! Everyone had a holiday theme and had a lovely diner, a drink and chit-chat a lot. Ever since I am a company emergency worker, I have been fascinated by fire extinguishers and everything that comes with it. That’s why my holiday theme was the first Monday of the month (remember those loud buzzers?). Perfect match for me! During our cosy date dinner I therefore briefly explained how a safe door procedure works during a fire. The ladies from Apollo (and their dates) learned something new that evening. Hopefully you are also learning hard and the exams will come to a good end!

Dear members,

Last week is was a busy week for us. At Tuesday we organised our board interest drink. For us this is very important, because we need to find new board members for next year. After the interest drink I had enough time to have a nice dinner with Dorien at the Spot. After I had to go to a drink with the board of study association Semper Florens, we had a great time there. Together we went to the board change of Nitocra.

At Wednesday we organised a career evening. Ciska and Dorien have spent a lot of time in the preparations and it turned out to be a great evening 😊. This weekend it was Easter. I loved the few extra days off and it gave me enough time toe celebrate my birthday together with my friends and family at home.

I hope you also had a good week!

Love,

Marieke

Dear members,

Last week was not a very busy week for Apollo and I could catch up some sleep 🙂 In the weekend, I celebrated my 20th birthday, so that was really nice. At Monday I helped with a walk along day and I suddenly had eleven high school students having lunch in my (not incredibly big) kitchen. It was a nice experience, there were some really interested students and we gave a small presentation for Apollo. In the evening we had our board meeting at Milou. Tuesday the FoodCie organised a High Tea during lunchtime. I helped making some wraps and I really enjoyed some nice food and tea. I think it was a great succes! At Wednesday I joined the excursion from the LexCie to the Mulier Instituut. This was really interesting. In the evening we did our board evaluation. It was a nice evening with our lovely board ;). The rest of the week, I didn’t have any other events for Apollo. I did some studying and went on an excursion to the anatomic museum with one of our courses. I think this was a really nice week!

Last week was quite an average ‘’board week’’ I guess. We started the week with our weekly board meeting, where we had a special guest! Also very important: we picked a theme for our ‘’date dinner’’… On Tuesday, we had a drink with the FoodCie and after that, another constitution drink took place, from study association Pyrus this time. It had already been a long time since we visited a constitution drink! Unfortunately I couldn’t make it to the constitution drink myself, because I went to a master open day in Rotterdam (quite a ‘’culture shock’’: students in suits and no separate garbage cans?!). On Wednesday we celebrated Ciska’s birthday and on Thursday we had a nice drink with the board of Heeren 17. After all these days filled with Apollo-activities, my weekend was a bit more relaxing. A little bit of studying and writing assignments, and also meeting with some friends I hadn’t seen in a long time, which was a lot of fun. As I said before, a pretty average week!

Hello, I am back! Last week I tried to study for my exam and some of us followed the preventive burn-out training. It was a nice and quiet week for Apollo, but we needed it. We started a fresh week and made a priority list. Recruiting new board member stands on top of this list. If you are interested come and meet us at the Board Interest Lunch , 27th march C0068!. Looking forward meeting you guys there. Hopefully we can give you an inside in the Apollo board. See you.

Kind regards,

Claudia.

Dear members,

I really don’t want to learn for the exams, so I am procrastinating by writing this board blog. Last week was a fun week for us. While some of you were playing ‘knotsbal’ with the SportCie. Milou, Ciska and I went to the General Members meeting of Mercurius Wageningen. Milou was attending as a special guest, but Ciska and I were joining as members….. It does feel kind of weird, being member of one study association and doing a Board year at another one. Attending the GMM had a good reason, uptill Tuesday I was still member of the First Years Committee. I haven’t done any tasks for this committee since the first years weekend, but officially I was still part of the committee. Tuesday I was officially discharged as committee members, maybe right now it is time to stop being a member of Mercurius….

After the GMM we quickly changed and as the Board of Apollo we went to the constitution drink. Our complete Board was present, which is of course always fun. Maybe I stayed a little to long at the drink and the next day I did have some regrets. I hope the EJC hasn’t noticed when I showed up at their meeting 😉.

Right now it really is time to start to learn for the exams…. Good luck with your exams this week!

Marieke

Dear members,

Here it is. My first board blog. Last week was a busy week. Monday we had 3 meetings, which was quite exhausting actually… At Tuesday we organized a potluck dinner for the master students. There were 7 masters and it was really nice. Everyone made great food. The best were the desserts. Two Italian students made amazing tiramisu and another chocolaty dessert. And then there was the warm apple pie, so good! The next day the first years committee organized a sushi workshop, so after I went to a sales workshop for my function, I went to steal some pieces of sushi of course. And I was as lucky to make a sushi roll myself as well. The rest of the week, I went to two lectures (one organized by our own Lexcie 🙂 ), we had a nice dinner with Mercurius, we went to two board changes and we did serious things like searching out the summaries at the website. At Friday afternoon I went disco rollerskating with Mercurius. This was a lot of fun!

My first board blog…

While flying back from my short visit to Sofia, I keep thinking about last week. It was a week full of new experiences. Visiting Bulgaria for the first time, passing my epidemiology exam for the first time (maybe this is the most important one?!), and of course, my first board blog…

Besides this, the last weeks were also full of reflection about Apollo. New, fun ideas also come with new tasks. Plus, the General Members Meeting Apparently is all of a sudden very close! Apparently we’re never done improving our study association, which is a good thing of course. Nothing wrong with a little perfectionism! Although, being away for a few days gave me a lot of creativity and ideas for Apollo. I hope you all had such a useful week as me!

Dorien

Dear members of Apollo,

Last week Marieke and I visited the AID-drink. Here they announced the theme for the upcoming study year. We were totally surprised and had no idea what to expect from this evening. Eventually we ended up with Codon (study association of biotechnology). As some of you may have noticed, we have a lot in common and go very well together. Therefore we organized a special Codon-Apollo evening to get to know each other even better. After a fully scheduled week with multiple board changes and kind of panic for upcoming exams I decided to take a little break. A weekend off to ski will do the trick. Fully recovered and relaxed, I’m back for business for Apollo, exams and work. I did not pass all of my exams due to my full schedule, so I also have to prepare for the resit exams of February. Try to be positive, a second chance is there for you to grab, so take it! I’m actually looking forward to the exams, kind of strange isn’t it.

Good luck for the coming exams! On our website you can find multiple resumes of different courses, just to make life a little bit easier.

Kind regard,

Claudia

Hello dear members,

This week it is my turn to write the boardblog. Altough I have enough to write about, I still find it difficult to write this blog.
The past week, the whole board needed a while to recover from the boardweekend. Unfortunately, we did not have the time for that. On Monday, Milou and I had to attend a meeting with the other study associations. Which was of course very useful. After that we had drinks on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with the board of some other study associations. They were a lot of fun and we got to know the boards even better.

Beside the board activities, Wednesday the first Apollo activity of 2019 took place, a lecture organized by the Lecture. The lecture was giving by an employee of the GGD. She told about the new Environmental code. I found the lecture very interesting, I hope you found it interesting as well!

Dear members,

Last weekend, the board of Apollo has been on a boardweekend at the beautiful surroundings of Drenthe. We have thought about our new policy for the upcoming six months. On both the long and short term you will hear and see more of our new plans and ideas, of which this ‘bestuursblog’ is one of them. Every week, another board member will write something about the state of affairs within Apollo or of a fun activity.

During the weekend there has also been time for a fun activity, in addition to serious meetings: bowling! I am delighted to share that I’ve won the bowl game and that I’m very pleased that the rest of the board members are handling their tasks within Apollo much better than they have talent for bowling.

Love,

Milou
